The unit has four independent incubation chambers, which can incubate one (SB401) or two (SB800) slides each.
Microagitation chips integrated into the chamber floor generate the surface acoustic wave (SAW) that penetrates the slides and cause ‘quasi-chaotic’ streaming in the sample solution. This results in homogenous mixing.
Due to the SAW technology, the hybridization is no longer diffusion limited resulting in shorter incubation times or higher quality in the same incubation time as present methods, using volumes as low as 3 µL.
Due to the unique geometry of the chamber, the system enables the greatest flexibility in its class, resulting in compatibility with uncovered sample droplets, LifterSlipTM, AdvaGap, cover glasses, Gene Frames®, gasket slides (max. 12 gaskets/slide) and other types of multiple arrays on one slide.
